So, to clarify what’s going to happen, here’s a handy checklist:

What will happen

  • Images of real-life nudity will be flagged
  • Flagged posts will be only viewable by the poster and nobody else
  • Flagged posts can be appealed and fixed if done so by mistake
  • That’s it

What will not happen

  • Blogs will not be indiscriminately deleted
  • Posts will not be indiscriminately deleted
  • Written smut will not intentionally be flagged
  • Illustrated or otherwise artistic nudity will not intentionally be flagged
  • Tumblr’s RP community, SFW or otherwise, will not implode upon itself

>Posts will not be indiscriminately deleted
>Blogs will not be indiscriminately deleted

Honestly the main thing that ticks me off about all this is @staff’s attitude. We all know this is happening because Tumblr was/is full of bots and child porn and got taken out of the app store for it.

They knew this forever and did nothing. Then their little pizza hands got slapped and suddenly innocent blogs are getting deleted left and right, and now this.

And the fanciful attitude in the announcements. That’s the worst part to me. That meek, half-hearted spin. Like they’re really accomplishing something here. Just say you fucked up and go, @staff.

“In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.”

What a bold-faced lie. This is because you can’t moderate your own site correctly. Imagine a bunch of professionals unable to figure out how to handle a problem that other sites already figured out. (I’m talking about the CP and bots, most websites still have a nazi problem. Not an excuse tho)

This blog isn’t nsfw so I doubt anything will happen to it, but this is possibly the stupidest decision this website has ever made. I sincerely hope it never makes it back onto the App Store.

That being said, moving to twitter would kinda suck because then people would see that I follow furries. 🙃 If you want to follow me on Twitter, it’s here.

As insolvent and un-advertiser friendly as Tumblr is I don’t really think Tumblr is going to just up and shut down. It’s just going to gradually become even buggier and buggier and nothing will get fixed and it’s just going to wring out the usebase like water from a damp towel. It’s probably going to be more like the internet version of visiting a Sears any time in the past five years
