I actually see a few similarities between the prospit dreams and derse and how the kids deal with them, specifically john and dave! We never really see johns actual eyes in this comic, which matches the negative space around him and just a general absence, which almost matches daves trademark sunglasses and how he uses them to mask feeling. They also both do that “hand on neck while facing away from camera” angle, which i find to be an interesting parallel.
